RPM Retail – Pioneering SaaS & AI for Commercial Impact

I led the design and delivery of a world-first SaaS and AI platform that transformed retail data into actionable insights, enabling enterprise adoption, multi-million-dollar revenue growth, and improved in-store performance.

Context

RPM Retail was a small consulting business looking to scale its services beyond traditional, human review and manual reporting. The challenge was how to take large volumes of retail data from POS and inventory systems and make it usable in a way that could drive consistent improvements across multiple stores, while allowing operational scale beyond the availability of experienced human consultants.

Insight

The core issue wasn’t access to data, it was the gap between data and action. Store managers and staff didn’t need more reports; they needed clear, practical guidance that could influence day-to-day decisions and behaviors.

Action

I led the design and delivery of a SaaS and AI-driven platform that translated complex retail data into plain-English action statements, and allowed scale through automation.

The platform combined:

  • Data integration from POS and inventory systems
  • Expanded business intelligence, machine learning and expert systems
  • A simple, user-focused interface designed for store-level execution
  • Delivery of plain english action statments via email and SMS
The focus was not just generating insights, but ensuring those insights were understandable, small enough to be easily digestable, relevant, and actionable in real-world retail environments.

Outcome

Key business results included:

  • RPM Retail scaled from a small consulting business to multi-million-dollar annual revenue
  • Enterprise adoption across major specialty retail chains and franchises across Australia and New Zealand
Key customer results included:
  • Improved in-store performance through consistent, data-driven decision-making
  • Increased profit margins through better sales practices and merchandising
  • Imporved use of operating capital through better stock management

Behavioral Impact

The platform changed how store managers and staff engaged with data, shifting from passive reporting to active decision-making. Instead of reviewing reports, teams were guided toward specific actions that influenced sales, stock management, and merchandising behavior on a daily basis.

This project reflects how I combine strategic insight, hands-on leadership, and operational execution to deliver measurable outcomes. I was fortunate to lead a highly capable team, whose collective efforts made these results possible. If you’d like to explore how this approach could be applied to your organization, I welcome you to start a conversation.
